My name is Dr. Majid Al Sarrah and I am an expert in public policy and international relations as well as international law.
As we witness two years of the historic Abraham Accords, these accords brought prosperity and economic success to the UAE and Israel, Both nations of UAE and Israel are leading the economic development in the region and reverting back to some reports, the trade between UAE and Israel reached nearly $500 million in 2021 while it was $125 million in 2020 which shows a growth of 75% only in one year and it is expected to continue growing rapidly especially that all economic indicators are positive and reflects a strong desire to trade and cooperate.
Cooperation between those two economic leading countries creates a new economic power in the region which surely leads to a sustainable stable and peaceful future in the region. The UAE already has a strong foundation for the economy and the Abraham accords came in line with the UAE’s policy. The Abraham accords created a diversified economic opportunities for both the UAE and Israel as well as long lasting foundation for a continuous economic growth.
The Abraham accords are surely not a quick decision and were designed to exist and be part of a long-lasting relation. The ideologies in the middle east are changing and creating futuristic policies for the next generations which is based on peace, cooperation, combating hate and terrorism are the main objectives, Israel is not the enemy as the late misleading media used to promote, people now have a higher rate of awareness, and we look at Israel as an ally that we need to work together for a sustainable peaceful future. The Abraham accords existed for lifetime and many of those who doubted its continuation, now they see how solid they are and bring people together better than ever.
The main challenge is changing the minds of some observing people geographically out of UAE and Israel who have been following the misleading media for ages. It is not a problem but surely a challenge to overcome and show them how beautiful peace is, and how important it is to build a peaceful future and work on it, adding to them that Israel is not an enemy but a friendly country, hence, altering and correcting those ideologies is a challenge at the meantime.
Personally I have a positive experience dealing with the outcomes of the Abraham accords as I met new people, moreover, I have attended Jewish occasions and learned so many things about jews and their history which is a great added knowledge, as well as many events jointly with Muslims and Jews.
Also, I was in a visit to Israel in 2020 during Hanukkah which I consider a very great visit to meet people face to face and learn so much about the culture and commonalities.
All I wish for is that the Abraham Accords stay as a successful model for peace and prosperity to spread stability and be a lesson of peace for all the generations to come, eventually peace will always prevail.
